Notes: Charles was the son of Jason Williams Fairfield Jr. and his second wife, Margaret Smith. He was born February 9, 1882, in Colorado Springs, CO. At age 18, he was a "boarder" in San Diego (see 1900 census). Soon after, he moved to New Mexico, where he became an accountant in the territorial auditor's office. He's still residing in NM in the 1910 census, the same year he married Jean MacKenzie. The couple moved to Los Angeles sometime during the next decade, then to Phoenix, Ariz., by 1920, where they are found in the census of that year. Soon after, they moved to Clarkdale, Arizona, where they were still residing in 1930. Charles died sometime after 1954 in Arizona.
