Source: Book. No. 12, front matter

Repository: Deere Archives, Moline, IL.

Additional Tate diaries are available at the Deere Archives as well as at the Bancroft Library in Berkeley, CA.

Notes: Robert's daughter, Ann Tate, was married to David Fairfield. His diaries are replete with references to family vitals, including that of Ann's family. Tate moved to California from Illinois (where he had been a partner with John Deere in a plow factory in Moline) in 1872. From that point, his diaries (over a dozen volumes) contain even more references to his daughter's family, including daily life, David's farming and mining activities, etc.
